What an adventure… made it through numerous roundabouts & to the train station in Granada before my real excursion to my apartment for the next two weeks in the Albaicín.

Thankfully I had some amazing salmorejo in Consuegra to sustain me for what came next!
What should’ve been a 10 minute walk up the hill to my apartment took 40 minutes due to the size of my bags (one named Bruto), the terrain (thousand year old cobblestones) slope AND my wrong turns.
Sweating, cursing under my breath (actually unable to as I was totally out of breath) and near tears I stopped to rest & saw this on the wall I was clinging to.

Hope was renewed & I trudged on. Numerous men that passed me by (one made we want to kiss the wall here and now❤️) none offering a hand. I was evidently inspirational as several girls ( some in school uniform & some dressed in heels) cheered me on & offered to help. I finally made it to the plaza where my casa was- huffing & puffing, when a man (not one you’d want your daughter to bring home) (covered in tattoos & piercings & weighing less than Bruto) leapt over the wall & helped the last few steps.
Still learning that it’s what inside that counts !

Funny (or not) how we often arrive where we are meant to be despite the journey.
Have you ever had a detour that was less than fun during a trip/ vacation/ life?
