How many expectations do we put on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Resolutions, the New Year? I’ve had a bit of a reckoning of late.
A few weeks ago I fell and landed on my head and then in an ambulance and then at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Gatos. Not enough time for my life to flash before my eyes, but enough time after to be grateful I was alive. (Fashionista pants & boots be damned!)
Some of the best New Year’s Eves I’ve spent have been spontaneous and unpretentious-crazy after work party in San Francisco decades ago that morphed into breakfast the next day/ movie and & dinner at Nick’s with friends/time alone with family or …………on a flight to Malaga!

As social media (including blogs!) take over our lives, it often seems that New Year’s is forced, false, overhyped and at times a let down. It doesn’t have to be so!
Remembering today the eve of 2024, the joy of spontaneity, the fact that life is short (La Vida es Corta), the renewal and hope that is life. “Learn as if you will live forever, live like you will die tomorrow.” — Mahatma Gandhi
Join me the first few days of 2024, traveling and dining where you may never have before.
