Before Elvis there was nothing…

Yoga is all about mind/body/the breath. However yesterday I was forced to find something else while trying to keep from throwing up in my Bikram Yoga class at my favorite, but authentic studio in Madrid https://www.barquillohotyoga.com/ . I had to focus on something. That something was a tattoo on another students very lower back that said before Elvis there was nothing. What does that mean and what will it mean when he’s 100? Tattoos; they’re a thing.

who doesn’t love a tortilla?

Maybe it was the tortilla I had for breakfast? Just not possible! I’m not used to a full 90 minutes anymore in the heat & humidity. Thank God I recovered enough to stop for lunch at this fabulous little restaurant and enjoy their menu del dia; Propoganda. Water, of course, cesar with fresh mushrooms, bacon, housemade croutons and dressing and an incredible gnocci with the perfect amount of truffles, butter and parmesan. In this small little world, the woman sitting next to me was from San Francisco, Excelsior Heights, and has lived in Madrid the last 25 years.

Madrid is magical. As much as I love the warm summer nights, winter is pretty special also; the holiday lights that stay up through 3 Kings Day, families and friends walking all hours of the night bundled in coats and bufandas (scarfs) and the late night tapas, including this take on Patatas Bravas with sweet & regular potatoes, sweet chili oil and aoli. Bravo.

If you were to get, or have a favorite tattoo, what would it be or is?
